Memories No One Will See

Being in a lockdown you start to go crazy, you’re basically living through groundhogs day, you’re doing the same thing over and over again. We weren’t allowed to see our friends, we were barely able to leave the house, it was advised not too unless you need the essentials. So that means you don’t get to see your friends as often as before.

After a while my friends Lizzie and Deana and I decided we were going to hang out for the first time in a while since the lockdown and pandemic had started. We decided to try and avoid crowded places, so we settled on going on our ritual starbucks run, we sat outside (socially distanced of course) and talked for hours, we caught up with how our families were doing, their dad and my mom are both in the medical field so we get to see the medical side of the virus. Lizzie, Deana and I have been friends since middle school, we made it through middle school, high school, and now we’re taking on college together. Being separated because of the pandemic was weird for us, we were used to having classes and seeing each other all the time, and the pandemic was preventing that.

As people walked into stores surrounding us, masks were covering their faces. Some people had two masks and were also wearing gloves, people would do anything to try and protect themselves from the virus. As people passed by us we received looks of disbelief and almost if what we were doing was wrong. This continued throughout the day as we hung out, just talking about life. We all understood we were in the middle of the pandemic, but we weren’t ready to continue hiding in fear everyday, we were taking the precautions to be safe around each other constantly washing our hands, staying socially distanced, and wearing our masks. Due to the judgment we now have a photo album of many great memories during the pandemic, that no one will ever see because of the fear of being put down to continue living our lives.
